Dr Farrukh Habib is a Sharia (Islamic jurisprudence) and Islamic finance expert. His current areas of interest are FinTech, blockchain, smart contracts, cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings (ICOs), tokenized asset offerings (TAO), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), robo-advisory, disintermediation, decentralization, capital markets, sukuk, crowdfunding, collaborative consumption (sharing economy), ethical and social finance. He has been involved in several researches, corporate trainings, workshops and consultation work on Islamic finance and FinTech with the main focus on blockchain. He has been a prolific contributor in numerous academic journals, reports, research papers and business magazines. He has also spoken in several international dialogues, conferences and seminars. Dr Farrukh Habib holds a PhD degree in Islamic Finance from INCEIF, Kuala Lumpur. He acquired a master’s degree (M.Sc.) in banking and finance from Queen Mary, University of London, UK. Prior to that, he obtained master’s and bachelor’s degrees from University of Karachi, both in economics. He also received traditional Islamic (Sharia) knowledge through an extensive eight-years-course in Jamia Uloom-E-Islamya Banuri Town, Karachi, acquiring bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Islamic studies.
